FAQ

Basics

What is a Google review QR code?

A QR code that encodes a Google Business Profile review URL. Scanning it opens the business page or the review star-rating form directly, skipping the search-and-scroll steps. Read about how to get the URL here: Place ID and review link guide.

Where do I find the link to create the QR code with?

You don't need access to the Google Business Profile. The review link is public and can be built from any listing on Google Maps. Read more here: Place ID and review link guide.

Easiest way to get the link?

Google Maps no longer puts the review-form URL in the address bar. You can still point a QR code at the business page and add a note to scroll to Write a review, or you can build the direct review link from the Place ID. The steps are in the Place ID and review link guide.

Always test before printing?

Open the finished link yourself. If the review form loads with the correct business name at the top, you have the right ID. If it's the wrong branch or an error, go back and pick again.

Do QR codes expire?

No. Codes don't expire.

Can I change the destination after printing?

No.

Does this work for a business that hasn't claimed its listing?

Generally yes — if the location exists on Maps and people can review it.

Is this free?

Yes. No account or subscription.

Do I need a Google account to generate a code?

No. Only the person leaving the review needs to be signed into Google.

Will the code still work if this website goes down?

Yes. The link is baked into the image.

Is this affiliated with Google?

No. It only encodes a review link you already have.

Does scanning a code automatically post a review?

No. It only opens the form. The customer still chooses the stars and writes the text.

Practical

Can I use these commercially?

Yes. This free generator places no restriction on commercial use.

What format should I print?

High-resolution PNG for most uses, which we provide.

How large should I print it?

At least 2–3 cm square for close range; larger for a counter or window.

Can I use colours?

Yes, if the dark modules stay clearly darker than the background.

My code won't scan — why?

Usual causes, in rough order: a typo in the URL, insufficient contrast. The foreground must be darker than the background. Test on both iOS and Android before printing.

Can I put my logo on it?

Yes. QR error correction tolerates up to about 30% obstruction, so a centred logo covering less than that still reads.

Where should the store place it?

Wherever the customer is both satisfied and standing still: checkout counters, receipts, table tents, packaging inserts, invoices, appointment cards.

Can one code cover multiple locations?

No — each location has its own Place ID and review link.

Can I point one code at Google, Yelp and Trustpilot together?

No, but you can make multiple codes for each.
